Blackburn Rovers FC Community Trust Partnership

Northend United Youth FC were delighted this week to secure a club partnership with English Championship side, Blackburn Rovers FC.

The announcement follows a series of meetings between both sides and provides another huge boost for the local Ballymena based club who are also the Academy side for NIFL Championship club, Wakehurst FC.

Both clubs negotiated an agreement which will see a close working relationship develop and is further commitment of Northend's desire to providing the best development opportunities for their players at all age groups.

The first step will see the Championship Club's Community Trust's Coaches, under the direction of head coach Darren Finch, travel to Ballymena on Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th February, during school half term holidays, to provide a multi-age Football Development Coaching Program, going into all aspects of football appreciation. This will not only be open to Northend United players but will also have places available for other local players who would like to avail of this opportunity.

This opportunity has been the brainchild of Northend's Football Development Officer, John Devlin, who commented "This is a fantastic opportunity for young players in Ballymena and further afield to hone their skills with a Club who were one of the earliest winners of the Premiership. As our partnership develops we will see Northend teams travel to Blackburn Rovers to avail of their coaching and playing opportunities."

Club Excellence Mark 2-Star Award

Northend United Youth FC had the pleasure this week of becoming only the second ever Club in Northern Ireland to being awarded 2-Star accreditation under the new Irish Football Association's Club Excellence Mark scheme. The Irish FA launched its Football for All Club Excellence Mark in October 2013 with Northend United becoming the first at that time to achieve their 1-Star accreditation and setting the standard for all the rest of Club's to follow.

Club chairman at Northend United Youth FC, Johnny Sayers, said: "We are delighted and proud to be one of a very elite band of Club's with the Irish FA's 2-Star Club Excellence Mark. This is recognition of the great work of all volunteers at the club since it was set up over 12 years ago. We hope this award will spur us on to bigger and better things in the coming years".

Just a reminder that the registration evening is on Thursday 13th August at the Michelin Club for all U8 to U17 teams teams as follows:

U8s to U12s - 7.00pm to 8.00pm

U13s to U17s - 8.00pm to 9.00pm

Its important everyone attends to get the sizes for the new tracksuits and training gear

Coerver Coaching's Opening Night Session - Monday 3rd August

The Club are delighted to announce that Austin Speight (Director of Coerver Ireland) will be delivering open training sessions on the first night of pre season training (3rd August) for all 6 - 14 year olds as part of the continuous working relationship built between us.

2008s to 2005s - 6.00pm to 7.00pm

2004s to 2001s - 7.00pm to 8.00pm

Pre-season Training Commences - Monday 3rd August

All teams commence pre-season training on Monday 3rd August at the Ballymena Showgrounds. 2008s to 2003s train from 6.00pm to 7.30pm and 2002s to 1999s train from 7.30pm to 9.00pm

Coach Development Pathway

Are you an ambitious individual, male or female, who is interested in taking the first step onto the football coaching ladder? If so, then Northend United is the Club for you.

This is an exciting period for our Club and we are on the lookout for new talented coaches to join us on our journey to coaching excellence. Due to a vast increase in player numbers, we plan to field a number of new teams for the 2015/16 season.

As a new coach you will embark on our Club's 'Coach Development Pathway', which consists of guided practical experience under one of our senior coaches, in Club training and formal coaching qualifications. The Club is fully committed to Coach Education and will provide opportunities to attain formal coaching qualifications through the Irish Football Association and Coerver Coaching.

In return for your time, you will receive a rewarding career ladder in coaching with opportunities for progression onto our Parent Club, Wakehurst FC. All initial enquiries should be made in the first instance to John Devlin on 07919 056834
